The NBFC register

Is your lender an RBI-registered NBFC?

The Reserve Bank of India publishes the companies it has registered as non-banking financial companies. This directory mirrors that list as on 30 June 2026 8,559 registered companies, each with its own page and searchable by name or CIN. The RBI separately publishes companies whose certificate of registration has been cancelled; you can check that list directly at rbi.org.in.

Always search the company name that appears in your loan agreement — not the app or brand name, which does not appear on the RBI list.

What registration does and does not mean

Registration means a company holds a certificate of registration to lend as an NBFC. It is not an RBI endorsement of a particular loan, rate or recovery practice, and the RBI does not “approve” loan apps at all. A registered lender must still disclose the all-inclusive APR before you borrow and recover only by lawful means. How to check any loan app in two minutes.
